Known for energizing dancefloors even in unconventional settings, Tähtimoottori has shown their range by composing commissioned sound works for contemporary dance at Berlin’s ACUD Theater, and by supporting international hard techno acts such as Domingo Caballero, Sónico, Leo Laker and Acid Zombie.Tähtimoottori often performs anonymously, emphasizing the immersive power of music and collective experience over individual identity. Their approach draws inspiration from the early philosophy of electronic dance music, where the artist steps back and the sound takes center stage.Their diverse sets blend live electronics and DJ culture, moving fluidly between underground/mainstream clubs, festivals, and cross-disciplinary art events—both in Finland and abroad.

Behind the mask stands an electronic music producer and DJ whose career spans nearly three decades. From raw techno to melodic downtempo, and the darker edges of indie dance to improvised ambient soundscapes, their sonic explorations stretch across a wide range of electronic subgenres.Tähtimoottori’s collaborative and boundary-pushing ethos has led to unique stage pairings—including performances with drag king Valio Pentti—and appearances at events like the Arctic Pride’s official afterparty.Alongside their solo work, Tähtimoottori has contributed to numerous bio-electronic ensembles and composed commissioned works, including music for the contemporary dance performance Kälteschlaf at ACUD Theatre in Berlin.Rooted in the early days of electronic dance music, Tähtimoottori’s artistic expression is both musical and visual, often defying conventions.Their performances have been praised by audiences and organizers alike.
